Why we start differently

You can practise IELTS every day and still practise the wrong thing.

One candidate may be slow in Reading. Another keeps confusing False with Not Given. Another has good vocabulary but does not develop ideas well enough in Writing. They should not all be given the same preparation plan.

First find the gap. Then spend your time fixing it.
1

Take the quick check

Five Reading questions plus a short Writing sample. You do not need to know IELTS well before starting.

2

See your starting priorities

We show the Reading areas that may be costing you marks and review your Writing for the first things to fix.

3

Prepare around your needs

If you join our classes, your practice and feedback are directed at the areas that need the most work.

Questions candidates usually ask us.

What exactly is the free IELTS Gap Check?

It is a short Reading and Writing check that helps us identify likely areas you should work on first. It is not an official IELTS band score and it does not replace a full mock test later in your preparation.

Which is better for my first IELTS attempt: 4 weeks or 8 weeks?

We normally recommend 8 weeks for a fresh attempt because you need time to understand the exam as well as improve your performance. Four weeks is more suitable when time is limited, you already understand IELTS, or your gaps are relatively narrow.

How much are the classes?

Online: ₦85,000 for 4 weeks and ₦120,000 for 8 weeks. On-site: ₦120,000 for 4 weeks and ₦180,000 for 8 weeks.

Do you guarantee a particular band?

No. Your official result depends on your performance in the actual test. Our job is to diagnose your weak areas, teach you how the test works, give you useful practice and feedback, and help you prepare more deliberately.

Your first step is free

Find out what deserves your attention before you start another week of random practice.

Take the quick Reading & Writing Gap Check. Then decide what preparation you actually need.

What should you work on first?

Answer five Reading questions and write one short paragraph. You’ll see your likely Reading priorities immediately, then you can send the Writing sample to us for review.

Step 1 of 5

A little about your IELTS plan.

There are no wrong answers here. This only helps us understand your starting point.

Have you taken IELTS before?
Which IELTS are you preparing for?
What band do you need?
Step 2 of 5

You do not need to know the IELTS format yet.

For this quick check, just read carefully and answer from the passage. We are looking at how you handle information, paraphrase and evidence.

This is intentionally short. A full IELTS Reading test comes later in serious preparation — not as the first thing we force a new visitor to do.
Step 3 of 5

Reading check.

Read the short passage once. Then answer the five questions below.

Green roofs in growing cities

As cities become more densely built, planners are looking for ways to reduce heat and manage rainwater without requiring large areas of new land. One approach is the green roof: a roof partly or completely covered with vegetation planted over a waterproof layer. Green roofs are not new, but modern systems are designed to work on a wider range of buildings.

Research suggests that vegetation can lower the temperature of a roof surface during hot weather. The plants and growing material can also provide insulation, reducing some of the energy required to cool or heat the building. However, the size of these benefits varies according to climate, the depth of the growing material and the type of plants used.

Another advantage is rainwater management. Instead of allowing all rainfall to move immediately into drains, a green roof can retain some water and release it more slowly. This can reduce pressure on drainage systems during heavy rain. Yet green roofs also have practical limits. They cost more to install than many conventional roofs, and older buildings may need structural assessment before the additional weight can be added.

For this reason, many planners do not see green roofs as a single solution to urban environmental problems. They are more useful when combined with trees, permeable surfaces and other forms of green infrastructure.

1. Modern green-roof systems can be installed only on newly constructed buildings.

2. The passage says green roofs work better in tropical climates than in cold climates.

3. What is the main purpose of the third paragraph?

4. Complete the sentence with ONE WORD from the passage: The growing material can provide ________, helping to reduce some heating or cooling needs.
5. Which statement best reflects the conclusion?

Step 4 of 5

Now show us how you explain an idea.

You do not need to write a full IELTS essay. Write an introduction and one body paragraph — roughly 100 to 140 words.

Writing prompt: Some people believe universities should focus mainly on skills that lead directly to employment, while others believe a broader academic education is equally important. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
We will not pretend this short sample is enough for an official Writing band. It is used to identify the first things worth reviewing.
Step 5 of 5

Here is where you should start.

This is a first diagnostic picture — not an official IELTS result.

Your answers stay on this page. Opening WhatsApp prepares a message; you choose whether to send it.

Your Reading check
Reading area to review first
Your Writing sample
Next stepSend your sample for tutor feedback and a 4-week / 8-week recommendation.
If this is your first IELTS attempt or you need a high band: we will normally recommend the 8-week route because it gives you more time to learn the test, practise, receive feedback and correct repeated mistakes.

Who online coaching suits

It is useful if you live outside the physical class area, work long hours, want to avoid Lagos travel time, or simply learn well in a live virtual class.

Online fees

4 weeks: ₦85,000
8 weeks: ₦120,000

The 4-week plan is more suitable when you already understand IELTS, your test date is close, or the gap you need to fix is relatively narrow. We normally prefer eight weeks for a fresh attempt or a demanding score target because there is more time for repeated practice and correction.

What happens before you join

Start with the free Reading & Writing Gap Check. It gives us a better conversation than simply asking, “Do you want four weeks or eight weeks?”

How often are classes?

Yes. WhatsApp support is part of the programme.

IELTS classes in Lagos for candidates who want face-to-face coaching.

A physical class should give you more than a timetable. You should know what you need to improve and receive feedback while you work on it.

If you prefer learning face-to-face, our on-site option gives you a physical class environment, direct interaction with the tutor and a fixed routine for preparation.

On-site fees

4 weeks: ₦120,000
8 weeks: ₦180,000

The exact current class location and timetable should be confirmed on WhatsApp before you make travel plans. We do not publish an address that may change or pretend to have branches where we do not.

Who should strongly consider 8 weeks?

If this is your first IELTS attempt, you are unfamiliar with the format, or your required band is high, the longer programme gives you more room to learn the test, practise, receive corrections and use those corrections before test day.

What to check before paying for any IELTS class in Lagos

  • Will somebody actually review your Writing?
  • Will Reading practice be explained, not merely marked?
  • How often will you practise?
  • Does the tutor adjust the focus when one skill is already strong?
  • Can you realistically attend the physical schedule consistently?

Want the current Lagos class location and timetable?

Message us directly. We’ll confirm the available schedule and help you decide whether on-site or online is more practical for you.

Why is my IELTS Writing not improving?
Accessplanet IELTS Help

Why is my IELTS Writing not improving?

If you keep practising Writing but still do not know what is wrong, start by identifying the problem — not by collecting more essay templates.

If you keep writing essays but the score does not move, the answer is not automatically “learn more vocabulary.” IELTS Writing is assessed across several criteria, and a repeated weakness in one area can keep the whole result down.

A useful question is not “How many essays should I write?” It is “What keeps going wrong in my essays?”

What may be holding your Writing back

You answer the topic, but do not develop the idea enough

A paragraph can sound fluent and still be underdeveloped. An examiner needs to see a clear idea, an explanation of that idea, and relevant support. Simply adding an example does not help if the example does not prove the point.

Your paragraphs are organised, but the argument is not moving forward

Coherence is more than using linking words. Your reader should be able to understand why one sentence follows another and how each paragraph contributes to your overall answer.

You are forcing “advanced” words

Appropriate vocabulary matters more than vocabulary that merely looks difficult. A word used unnaturally can weaken clarity and accuracy.

What our short Writing check does

We ask for an introduction and one body paragraph rather than a full essay. That is enough to see useful early signals about position, paragraph development, sentence control and language use. It is not enough for us to pretend we can give you an official IELTS band.

Can a short paragraph tell me my exact IELTS Writing band?

No. A proper band judgement requires enough writing under appropriate conditions. The short sample is for identifying first priorities.

Do you correct Writing in the coaching programme?

Yes. Writing correction and feedback are part of both the 4-week and 8-week programmes, with more feedback cycles available over eight weeks.

For the official criteria, see IELTS Academic Writing format and assessment information.

Stop guessing what is wrong with your Writing.

Send us a short sample. We’ll help you identify the first things worth correcting.

Why does IELTS Reading feel harder than normal reading?
Accessplanet IELTS Help

Why does IELTS Reading feel harder than normal reading?

Because you are not only reading for meaning. You are finding precise evidence, recognising paraphrase, managing question types and working against time.

Reading problems often feel like one problem — “I am not good at Reading” — but they can come from very different causes. You may understand the passage but lose time. You may read too much. You may miss paraphrases. Or one question type may repeatedly cost you marks.

The goal is not to become a faster reader at all costs. The goal is to find answers accurately without spending too much time on the wrong part of the passage.

Three Reading problems we look for

True / False / Not Given confusion

False means the passage contradicts the statement. Not Given means the passage does not provide enough information to confirm or contradict it. Treating missing information as false is a common error.

Matching words instead of matching meaning

IELTS regularly paraphrases. The question may use a different expression from the passage, so simply scanning for identical words can send you to the wrong place.

Spending too long on one question

One difficult item can consume time you need later. Good Reading preparation therefore includes decision-making and timing, not only comprehension.

Why our Gap Check uses several question types

Five questions cannot reproduce the full IELTS Reading test, but carefully chosen items can show whether certain patterns deserve closer attention. Later in preparation, longer timed practice becomes important.

Does the free check replace a full Reading mock?

No. It is a starting diagnostic. Full timed Reading practice belongs later in your preparation.

Will Reading be covered in class?

Yes. We work on strategy, question types, evidence, timing and practice based on what the candidate needs.

For official task types, see the IELTS Academic Reading format.

Find the Reading problem before you practise harder.

Our free Gap Check gives you a small sample of different Reading demands and shows where to look first.

Taking IELTS for the first time? Do not start with random practice.
Accessplanet IELTS Help

Taking IELTS for the first time? Do not start with random practice.

First learn where you stand, then learn the test, practise the right skills and give yourself enough time to use feedback.

Your first IELTS attempt has two learning jobs: you must improve the skills the test measures, and you must also learn how the test itself works. That is why trying to rush a first attempt can create unnecessary pressure.

What a first-time candidate normally needs to learn

  • How the Reading question types behave
  • How to use the 60 minutes without getting trapped on difficult items
  • What examiners expect in Writing
  • How to practise under computer-test conditions
  • How to use feedback rather than simply repeat the same mistakes

Why we normally recommend 8 weeks

Eight weeks does not magically create a high score. It simply gives you more opportunities to learn, practise, receive feedback, correct, and practise again. For a first-time candidate, that cycle matters.

8-week fees:
Online — ₦120,000
On-site — ₦180,000

If your test date is already close, we can still discuss the 4-week option. The right decision depends on your current level, required band and available time.

Need a high IELTS band? One weak section can still hold you back.
Accessplanet IELTS Help

Need a high IELTS band? One weak section can still hold you back.

When the requirement is demanding, preparation has to be more consistent. We focus on the gaps that can stop you from reaching the score you need.

A high target is not simply “the same preparation, but harder.” The higher the requirement, the less room you have for one weak section to drag the result down.

High scores need consistency

You may be naturally comfortable with Speaking and still lose your overall requirement because Writing or Reading remains below the level you need. Preparation should therefore focus on the gap between your strongest and weakest areas.

Why we prefer the 8-week route for demanding targets

You need enough time for repeated cycles: attempt, feedback, correction, another attempt. One correction is useful. Several corrections followed by new practice are more useful because they show whether the problem is actually changing.

8-week fees:
Online — ₦120,000
On-site — ₦180,000

What we will not promise

We will not guarantee a particular official IELTS band. Your result depends on your actual test performance. What we can do is make your preparation more deliberate, identify weak areas, give feedback and help you build greater consistency before test day.

A high target deserves more than last-minute practice.

Start with the free Gap Check. If your target is demanding, we will usually recommend the 8-week route so you have time to apply feedback repeatedly.
